Polo is a dynamic, exciting and tactical game played teams of three (arena) or four (outdoor) players on each side. They are mounted on specially trained horses called 'polo ponies'.The game originated in China over 2500 years ago and initially involved hundreds of players on each side. Today the sport is increasingly popular internationally and is well established in the UK.

The University of St Andrews Polo Club is a friendly, open and successful club and we look forward to welcoming seasoned players, complete beginners, and everything in between. There is a level of competition available to everyone, as well as informal playing opportunities for those who just want to be active in a relaxed atmosphere.

Polo clubs are notoriously sociable, and St Andrews is no exception. We meet in The One Under in the Rusacks Hotel every Tuesday at 7pm and run a lively social calendar full of parties, dinners and nights out on the town. For the first time in February 2011 we hosted the hugely successful Players' Party in Bar Catch and the Aquarium, which was attended by 600 students. In May of every year we host our own St Andrews Charity Polo tournament which also attracts on average over 600 people to watch players from within the club, as well as some of the best players in Scotland.

If you would like to get involved, please come along to one of our meetings in The One Under, or you can contact us either by e-mail or Facebook:
