II am a fourth year International Relations student and have been involved in polo since I was ten, though I began playing just a few years ago. During the summer months I am lucky enough to play at home in British Columbia, Canada.

We have a large and dynamic club in St Andrews which has provided me with some of the best experiences of my university career. I hope to work with this year’s committee and membership to see it continue to grow and to develop new opportunities for the club. We have big plans for the 2011-12 season, and I welcome any and all contribution from club members. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or ideas. I am always happy to meet for a coffee, or to have a conversation at one of our weekly socials. Not to mention that I somewhat obsessively check my e-mails!

I look forward to sharing this fantastic sport with all of you during what I’m sure will be another fun and successful year!

Fun Fact: I am extremely accident prone. For example, at winter nationals one year I was the only one from St Andrews to be hurt when I was hit in the face by a ball ... while spectating from behind safety netting!

Hi,

My name is Elle and I am a third year Biology major at St Andrews. I have ridden in the United States for most of my life, but picked up polo during my first year in Scotland. I fell head over heels for the sport within a few lessons and have not looked back since.

As the secretary of the polo club my job is to schedule weekly lessons an often to be the first person you approach with questions and concerns. So please feel free to contact me!

I am looking forward to a fun, hopefully successful, and fantastic year!

Fun Fact: For my eighth birthday I was given a 12.2 grey pony named Flipper who taught me how to jump. I consistently fell off three times every lesson. My grandfather's response: "Why did you buy her a pony named Flip Her?"

I am a fourth year Art History and International Relations student. I started riding and playing polo in my second year. I have participated in other university sports teams, but the Polo Club has definitely been the best experience. I had the wonderful opportunity to go to La Mariposa in Argentina with the Polo club last year and highly suggest it to everyone. I also play at Ascot Park over the summers when I am home. I am really looking forward to being the Treasurer this year, and would like to encourage everyone, with or without riding experience, to get involved in polo.

Fun Fact: Before taking up polo I was the Maryland State Slalom Champion

Hi guys,

LMy name is Sarah Middlemiss and I am a third year Management and Philosophy student. I have been playing polo since I was about 13 when I tootled along to pony club camp at Scone and have been hooked every since. this year I’m Match Secretary, so it is my job to watch people play and progress and to pick the teams (so be nice to me!). This year we have some exciting plans with new tournaments and hopefully more opportunities to play and I’m looking forward to seeing St Andrews polo grow and win lots of silverware!

Fun Fact: I have an elephant costume and can often be found stumbling around the streets of St Andrews (and Edinburgh, and at Nationals) wearing it!

Hola!

My name is Avni and I am in third year studying Management and Art History. Although I have been riding since I was 7, the first time I tried polo was in first year when I cam to St Andrews and, like everyone else, I instantly fell in love with the sport.

As the Sponsorship and Alumni Representative, my job is to find sponsors for the club and Strathtyrum (our annual charity polo tournament) and also to keep alumni notified of news and tournament results.

Fun Fact: Not only can I rap but I ride llamas in my spare time

Natalie is currently studying Sustainable Development in her fourth year at St Andrews. She grew up riding and showing hunter/jumper in Baltimore, Maryland and first picked up polo at St Andrews. Even though she dithers about like a raging fool the majority of the time whilst atop a polo pony, she has become thoroughly addicted to the sport. In her spare time, Natalie likes to pretend she’s gangsta and from the hood, but really she is is a bit of a redneck who often rides around on tractors with a farmer’s tan.

Fun Fact: Natalie wants a small herd of ginger children when she grows up. Preferably Jewish gingers.

Hi,

My name is Primrose and I am a second year French and Arabic student. I have always ridden but had never played polo before coming to St Andrews. After my first lesson I was hooked an after an amazingly fun first year in the club, I am looking forward to working as part of the committee this year.

Fun Fact: My full name is Primrose Miller Midget Killer.
